If you’re craving time by the ocean or you just want to roll right into the waves, grab one of the free manual waterproof beach wheelchairs available at the lifeguard station. If you prefer effortless cruising along the sand, wheelchair travelers can rent an electric beach wheelchair and conquer that sand! Just remember, it’s only for the sand, not the water. Whichever chair you choose, wheelchair users are in for some serious beach fun!

After working up an appetite on the beach, head just a mile south on A1A (Atlantic Avenue) to Big Tuna’s Beach Bar & Grill. Wheelchair and accessibility travelers can treat themselves to an extensive selection of fresh seafood, salads, sandwiches, and decadent desserts. The beautifully maintained botanical garden is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and it’s easy to see why. It’s ideally suited for wheelchair-accessible travelers and is perfect for a relaxing stroll/roll on the wide, mobility-friendly walkways. You'll love cruising along the lush lawns, colorful gardens, and shady pavilions while listening to “chill” tunes coming out of the rock-shaped speakers lining the walkways.

You'll be amazed at the incredible selection of handcrafted chocolates and sweets to satisfy your love of anything chocolate. And be sure to check out their fascinating chocolate-making viewing area.

Few restaurants actually sit directly on the very edge of the Halifax River, but Caribbean Jack's does. While you can dine indoors, the real experience is outside on their wooden deck, where wheelchair travelers can soak up the waterfront views and listen to live music. Caribbean Jack's menu is packed with a delicious assortment of seafood, soups, salads, sandwiches, tacos, ribs, chicken, pasta, and desserts.
