Halifax Area Advertising Authority

The Halifax Area Advertising Authority (HAAA) is charged with promoting tourism offerings within the greater Daytona Beach area which includes Ormond By The Sea, Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Wilbur By The Sea, Ponce Inlet, Holly Hill and South Daytona.

HAAA implements its marketing initiatives via the staff of the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), using the Convention Development Tax as its primary source of funding.

The Convention Development Tax (CDT) is a 3% bed tax levied in the Halifax Taxing District on overnight accommodations and revenue is dedicated solely to the funding of local tourism marketing initiatives.  The Tourist Development Tax, an additional 3% bed tax, is levied countywide and used to fund the Ocean Center, the area's multi-purpose convention complex and its $82 million expansion.  The bed tax is not an ad valorem tax paid by residents.
