Tom Staed Tourism
Impact Award

The Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has created the Tom Staed Tourism Impact Award, which will be presented annually at Tourism Partner Day, to recognize a business or entity that has made a significant contribution to the growth, appeal, and impact of local tourism. The CVB accepted nominations from our partners based on these four pillars – economic impact, visitor experience, community impact, alignment, and industry leadership.

Who was Tom Staed

Tom Staed was a pivotal figure in shaping Daytona Beach's tourism industry, leaving a lasting legacy through his visionary leadership and entrepreneurial spirit. As a prominent hotelier, he owned and operated numerous hotels in the area, contributing to the transformation of Daytona Beach into a nationally recognized tourist destination. One of his most impactful contributions was his role in helping to establish the local bed tax, a critical funding source that continues to support tourism promotion. Staed was instrumental in advocating for the tax, recognizing its potential to reinvest in the community and sustain long-term growth. Beyond his business endeavors, he played an active role in civic and tourism organizations, promoting strategic development and championing the area's appeal to visitors. His efforts not only boosted the local economy but also positioned Daytona Beach as a premier destination on Florida’s Atlantic coast.
