For some families, vacation feels incomplete without our four-legged friends. In Daytona Beach, there are plenty of options for you and “man’s best friend” to vacation and spend time together. From pet-friendly restaurants to dog parks, here’s the scoop on everything you need to know about bringing your dog to Daytona Beach.
Where to Play
Volusia County Beaches
From sunrise to sunset, beachgoers with their dogs will be permitted to enjoy a stretch of Volusia County’s public beach from the northern boundary of the right-of-way of Rockefeller Drive to the southern boundary of Milsap Road in Ormond Beach.
The following rules must be followed by those who decide to take their dogs to the authorized section:
- Pet owners must promptly clean up after their dogs, ensuring all feces are properly disposed of.
- Dogs must not disturb or harm the dune areas or wildlife inhabiting the beach.
- All dogs entering the beach area must have a current rabies vaccination.
- Visitors are required to adhere to the guidelines posted by the county regarding dogs on the beach.
The approved Milsap to Rockefeller area, spanning 0.6 miles, allows beach driving. Additionally, the county maintains two off-beach parking lots in this stretch: a 124-space lot at Cardinal Drive and a 33-space lot at Rockefeller Drive. Visitors can also use the 90 parking spaces available at Andy Romano Beachfront Park, and six public spaces at the Milsap ramp. Another public access point is at River Beach Drive.
At this pet-friendly park, your whole family can explore some of Daytona Beach’s most wonderful natural elements. Roam along the beach, run free in the open space, or chase after birds — with over 50 acres, there’s plenty of room for all to explore. There’s even an observation deck (for those with two legs, not four!).
This dog park features both on- and off-leash areas for large and small dogs. In the mood to get some training in (or at least burn off some energy)? Put the park’s agility courses to good use! Plus, there are fenced and shaded areas, walking trails, and water stations for both pet owners and animals alike.
New Smyrna Beach Dog Park
This one-acre dog park features a fenced area that’s divided into sections for large dogs and small dogs. Take a break from the sunshine in the 30x40 shade shelter that includes a dog and people water fountain. The grounds are grassed and include open areas with concrete structures for doggy play!
If you’re in the Holly Hill area, take your pups to play at Riviera Oaks Dog Park. Open from sunrise to sunset, this park offers plenty of room for dogs to run and play, plus separate sections for dogs large and small. Plus, there’s fresh water on tap if the dogs work up a thirst.
Encompassing more than 14 acres, this dog park has plenty of room for dogs of all sizes to run and play. There are separate areas for large and small dogs, time-out spaces, and even a pond. Parking is never a problem here, and there are restrooms for the humans.
This sprawling, 40-acre park in Ormond Beach offers lots to explore. While the entire park stretches from the Halifax River to the Atlantic Ocean, the off-leash dog park is four acres all on its own. When your four-legged friend is done running around, the rest of the family can head over to the soccer field, basketball court, playground, tennis courts or nature trails. There’s plenty for everyone to love here!
This dog-friendly recreation area in Daytona Beach Shores is located on the west side of Lucy M. McElroy Park, a three-acre site complete with pickleball courts and a playground, in Daytona Beach Shores. With specially designated areas for small and medium/large dogs, this park is shady and includes a water fountain for you and your four-legged friend.
