Did you know that Daytona Beach was a film location in the upcoming summer blockbuster ‘F1 The Movie’?

That’s right, Daytona Beach is heading to the silver screen.

In the Apple Original film “FI The Movie” starring Academy-Award winning actor Brad Pitt, Daytona Beach is among the locations highlighted in the movie.

Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who returns to the sport to mentor a rising rookie. The movie also stars actor Damson Idris and Academy-Award winning actor Javier Bardem and is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also directed “Top Gun: Maverick.”

The movie, which transports viewers into the world of Formula One racing, filmed in the Daytona Beach area back in January 2024. Pitt shot scenes at the world-famous Daytona International Speedway during both the Roar Before The Rolex 24 and the 62nd anniversary of the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA. In addition, the movie shot scenes at other locales in Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach.

The movie’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer served as the Grand Marshal for the 2024 Rolex 24.

Bruckheimer is no stranger to filming racing movies in Daytona Beach. He was a producer on another summer blockbuster, “Days of Thunder,” back in 1992, which starred actor Tom Cruise, Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman, and took filmgoers into the world of NASCAR.

“FI The Movie” opens in theaters on Friday, June 27.
