Surfing while in Daytona Beach is something worth bragging about to your friends back home. After all, who wouldn't want to ride the waves of one of America's original surfing towns?

Gentle waves over a shallow sandbar make Daytona Beach an easy place to learn, or brush up your skills. All swimmers in the family can take part, and all you'll need is your swimsuit and sunscreen. Surfing instructors are ready with everything else you will need. If you already have mad skills, there are several places that will rent you just the board you'll need.

Stand-Up Paddleboards, or SUP's, are a great option for the inland waters or a calm day at the beach. These wide boards provide stability for beginners of all ages, and it's a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of our waterways, and maybe encounter a friendly manatee, or dolphin.  Local SUP outfitters can provide instruction and lead guided tours.

Just want to watch? The beaches close to Ponce Inlet attract the best of the local wave riders. Take a short, scenic drive to Ponce Inlet, or New Smyrna Beach to check them out.
