How does the program work?
All you need to do is call the Halifax Humane Society at (386) 274-4703 or send an email to info@halifaxhumanesociety.org and say that you’re interested in the Beach Buddies program. You will need to reserve a dog at LEAST 24 hours in advance. The humane society representative will pair you up with a dog, and will provide you with the supplies you’ll need, as well as a list of suggested locations for you to visit with your buddy.
How long do I get to hang out with the dog?
Beach Buddies has newly expanded options to suit a variety of doggie desires! Check out the tiers below:
- The Original - $25
- Have a dog for the day! Take your new buddy out for a day of fun in the sun. You’ll pick up at 10 a.m., stay out as long as you’d like, and return your pup back by no later than 4 p.m. This option is available from Wednesday through Saturday.
- The Sleepover - $35
- Craving a little more cuddle time? Have a puppy sleepover party! You get a full day of dog-filled fun, and the humane society will send you with enough food for the entire stay.
- The Three-Day Pass - $40
- Sometimes, a day is just not enough! Take the fun times beyond a walk in the park — spend the whole weekend with your new best friend! It’s a wonderful way to test out how it feels having a pup in your family.
