DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.  – Travel Weekly, an influential provider of news, research, opinion and analysis to the North American travel trade marketplace, announced the winners of the 2024 Magellan Awards and the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) was recognized with the Silver Award.

The Magellan Awards honor outstanding design, marketing and services in a broad range of industry segments including Hospitality, Travel Destinations, Cruise Lines, Online Travel Services, Airlines and Airports, Travel Agents and Agencies, Tour Operators and Ground Transportation. With a record number of entries from across the U.S. and around the world, the 17th annual Magellan Award winners represent the best in the travel industry and salute the outstanding travel professionals behind it all.

The CVB was recognized with a Silver Award for its Times Square initiative, which showcased the destination on a 3D Anamorphic Billboard in the Crossroads of the World – Times Square in New York City. The branded 15-second video features a kite surfer riding a wave with the famous Daytona Beach Pier in the background followed by a dolphin jumping through the Daytona Beach logo. On the underside of the surfer’s board is the logo for the CVB’s latest campaign “Beach On.”

“We’re proud to receive this recognition,” said Kay Galloway, Director of Marketing & Design for the Daytona Beach Area CVB. “Promoting the Daytona Beach area is a team effort with the staff of the Daytona Beach Area CVB, the Zimmerman Agency, and the Halifax Advertising Authority Board. The Silver Magellan Award is a testament to everyone’s hard work.”

The Magellan Awards are judged and overseen by a panel of top travel professionals representing the best names and most accomplished leaders from the industry. In determining winners, entries do not compete with one another, instead they are judged against a standard of excellence based on the long experience of Travel Weekly. To uphold this high standard of excellence, a category may have multiple winners or may have no winners at all.
