About
The course at Venetian Bay was designed in 2008 by Clifton, Ezell and Clifton Design Group. Venetian Bay has distinguished itself with a links style design that is long on creativity and short on housing. Featuring generous fairways, some framed by mounding, Venetian Bay is one of the Daytona Beach area’s most popular courses. The course’s stature has only increased with management’s decision to invest $2 million to upgrade the layout and appearance in recent years. Golfers have plenty of room on fairways that average 35 yards in width, but balls that stray beyond the first cut will find deeper, more challenging rough, increasing the challenge of hitting the green in regulation. The TifDwarf putting surfaces at Venetian Bay have some slope, but they don’t have severe undulation so players will have the opportunity to score. The design is highlighted by the par 4 ninth hole, a 90-degree, dogleg left that plays in the shadow of the clubhouse, where people gather to watch. It’s a great a scene and a hole golfers don’t forget. Venetian Bay’s hardest hole is the par 4, 13th, which plays a muscular 458 yards from the tips (it’s a more manageable 380 yards from the white tees). A little local knowledge before teeing it up: the greens are often slightly elevated and you are playing in heavier air at sea level, so take an extra club and enjoy the challenge at Venetian Bay.
