About

Thursday at the Tower - Alexander Hamilton, Father of America's Lighthouses

Lighthouses were very important to the new United States.  As the first United States Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton was charged with paying off the debt of the young country accrued during the Revolutionary War, and to establish Federal control of all twelve existing Colonial lighthouses in the young country.  During his term, he and President Washington were very involved in the design and building of the first two United States lighthouses in the nation, The Cape Henry lighthouse in Virginia, and the Montauk Lighthouse on Long Island, New York.  Please note that dueling pistols will be confiscated BEFORE THE PROGRAM.

Included with regular paid admission.

Registration is required, as there will be limited space for attendees.

To register, please contact the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Programs Department at 386-761-1821 ext. 18 or email education@ponceinlet.org
