Discover the history of the Grand Hotel Ormond through photographs and artifacts at the MacDonald House Museum & Welcome Center.
The Grande Old Dame
by Rosemary Upton
The Ormond sat majestically upon the Halifax, a winter home to those of wealth who came here to relax, but as decades passed her by, such glory finally spent, no longer so prestigious, she was weak and bent. Yet even at one-hundred years she held her head up high and when succumbing to her fate she whooped a grand good-bye!
Usually, we read about the history and culture of people through books, or documentaries, or museums. Each photograph, or object has its own story to tell about a way of life, about their surroundings, about a time gone past, but not forgotten.
Admission: Free and open to the public.
Museum hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 pm.
