About

In 1803, Mr. and Mrs. George Murray of Philadelphia secured a land grant in Florida from the Spanish Government. This sets the stage for their daughter, Jane, to become a true pioneer homemaker during Florida's Indian War Years. Settling in New Smyrna with her husband John in 1850, Jane will eventually become a local legend and matriarch to the community known as Grandma Sheldon.

Come and join New Smyrna Museum of History Executive Director Greg Holbrook as he delivers a lively retelling of the life of such an iconic local figure.

This presentation is included with general admission to the lighthouse. Advanced registration is encouraged.
