Ever wonder what the life of a lighthouse cat is like? Take an adventure with Nelly, the resident cat of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.
As part of Volusia County Library Oceans of Possibilities Summer programming, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is proud to bring children ages 4 through 10 a special program including a reading of Nelly the Lighthouse Cat. This children's book was written specifically for the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and will excite young ones as they see the lighthouse through the lens of our loveable feline friend as she encounters various friends around the light station.
Children will be enriched through an engaging program as a costumed docent reads the story, as well as, discusses the ideas of first person narrative and main characters. A take home activity will allow the children to further their love of Nelly, and there may even be an appearance by Nelly herself.
This one-day only program is brought to the people free of charge thanks in part to the Volusia County Library System and the Ponce De Leon Lighthouse Preservation Association Programs Department.
