About
Garrison Keillor and Erica Rhodes will perform together on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Peabody Auditorium.
Keillor did A Prairie Home Companion for more than 40 years, wrote fiction and comedy, and invented a town called Lake Wobegon, where all the children are above average, even though he himself grew up evangelical in a small separatist flock where all the children expected the imminent end of the world. Since the public radio show wrapped up in 2016, author and humorist Keillor has written a memoir and other books, and — in his 80s — has forged a career in stand-up comedy. His biweekly online column can be found on Substack. And his podcast and email newsletter The Writer’s Almanac is sent out daily to internet subscribers (free).
“Fans laughed, applauded and sang along throughout Sunday night’s two-hour show” —Jeff Baenen, AP News
“His shows can, for a couple of hours, transform an audience of even so-called coastal elites into a small-town community with an intimacy only radio and its podcast descendants can achieve” —Chris Barton, LA Times
“[Keillor is] an expert at making you feel at home with his low-key, familiar style. Comfortable is his specialty.” —Betsie Freeman, Omaha World-Herald
Erica Rhodes is a comedian and actor who has appeared on America’s Got Talent, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Don’t Tell Comedy, ABC’s Modern Family, HBO’s Veep, Fox’s New Girl, @midnight, NBC's Bring the Funny, CW’s Howie Mandel Comedy Extravaganza, and Fox’s Punchline. Erica voiced the scene-stealing character of “Dotty” in the hit Netflix animation series A Tale Dark & Grimm and starred in the ABC Digital series The Off Season.
