Visit Website Email
About

This presentation chronicles Florida’s long and difficult relationship with water. Dr. Steven Noll examines attempts to turn water into land and land into water throughout Florida’s history, including contentious water-related issues like the potential restoration of the Everglades, the battle over the Ocklawaha River, the degradation of north Florida’s iconic springs, and more.

Steve Noll is an instructional professor in the history department at the University of Florida, where he has taught since 1993. He got his PhD in history from UF in 1991. He has published 4 books - the latest, published in April 2022, is entitled Writing for the Public Good, and is an edited collection of op-ed pieces by David Colburn and Senator Bob Graham. He also travels around the state giving public talks through Florida Humanities.
