Whether you’re a local looking for fun things to do or a visitor spending a holiday weekend away from home, the Daytona Beach area is full of ways to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Take the family for a turkey trot

Thanksgiving 10-mile and 5K Road Races
Thursday, November 23
If you’re willing to wake up bright and early, head over to DeLand for a Thanksgiving Day run! There’s a 5K for adults and kids 16 and older, plus a category for those 15 and younger. For those revved up and ready to run a little farther, a 10-mile race will also take place. Register today — entry fees go up after November 21.

Turkey Day Beach 5K
Thursday, November 23
Set the scene for a wonderful Thanksgiving by starting the day with a 5K along New Smyrna Beach! Get your workout in early with this fun 5K run, and you’ll be ready to relax and eat pie the rest of the afternoon! This low-stress event allows walkers and runners of all skill levels to participate, and the proceeds go toward various local charities. Dress to impress — Thanksgiving-themed costumes are encouraged. With views like this, there’s plenty to be thankful for!

Enjoy Thanksgiving dinner together

Gather around the table with friends and family for a hot Thanksgiving Day meal at any of a number of Daytona Beach restaurants. From savoring seafood and cornbread stuffing at the Chart House to eating an oceanfront fried-turkey meal at LuLu’s Oceanside Grill, you can enjoy a meal in a place that feels like home — minus the dirty dishes, of course!

Go for a cruise down memory lane

Back for its 44th year, the Daytona Turkey Run is the largest combined collector car show and swap meet in the United States. With over 6,000 classic cars plus collector parts, unique gifts and a crafts bazaar, there’s something the whole family will enjoy. The event takes place on the infield of the iconic Daytona International Speedway from Thursday through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Whether you want to stroll down the line of classic cars, buy hard-to-find accessories or shop for handmade gifts, you don’t want to miss this favorite Daytona Beach tradition.

Get a head start on holiday shopping

After the turkey and stuffing have been put away and afternoon naps have been taken, head over to Tanger Outlets Daytona Beach to shop the Moonlight Madness event. Tanger’s biggest sale of the year lasts through the weekend, and it all starts at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. And, support locally owned businesses for Shop Small Saturday. Get great deals on locally roasted coffee, homemade spa essentials, unique artwork and more at Frame of Mind Outdoor Artist Market in Ormond Beach on Saturday, November 25.

Of course, you can always spend the morning walking along the Riverfront, exploring nature or lounging by the water — there’s nothing quite like a post-turkey stroll on the beach! Start planning your holiday getaway in Daytona Beach today!
