WHERE: 2099 North Beach Street, Ormond Beach

WHAT TO EXPECT
If you’re in the Daytona Beach region this coming October 6, make your way toward Ormond Beach for an early afternoon of educational exhibits and natural wonder! At the 6th Annual Tomoka Fest, families flock from all over the county to learn about the area’s natural and cultural resources through hands-on activities, exhibitions, living history demonstrations, guided hikes and so much more.
Go for a group hike through the park’s waterfront acreage, peruse the goods of local crafters, hear from local authors and get your book signed. There will be plenty of good food to eat, which you can enjoy while listening to live music. Plus, the kids will love the critters that make live appearances with their handlers!
While you’re there, stop by the Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks table for more information on what they do, volunteering opportunities and how you can help support local Florida parks — after all, their beauty is so unique, they must be preserved so that future generations may also enjoy them.
MORE ABOUT TOMOKA
Tomoka State Park is one of the Daytona Beach area’s most wonderful natural features. That’s right — in addition to Daytona Beach’s famous 23 miles of white-sand beaches, nature-lovers find so much to explore in this little slice of paradise. Set along the Tomoka River, this park was a former Native American dwelling ground. Now, it’s a popular local spot for camping, fishing, boating and more.
Tomoka State Park protects a variety of wildlife habitats and endangered species, such as the West Indian manatee — and you can get a close-up look at all of it by renting a canoe right on-site at Tomoka Outpost and launching nearby. The outpost also offers a riverfront view, snacks, hot and cold beverages, canoe and kayak rentals, and souvenirs.
Floating along the Tomoka River, you’ll also have an incredible vantage point to observe some of the 160 species of birds that have been spotted in the area. You and your family will have so many adventures among nature at Tomoka State Park, so don’t miss out!
