For racing fans all over the planet, Daytona Beach is known as one of the sport’s premier destinations … and for good reason. It is home, of course, to the “World Center of Racing” — Daytona International Speedway — along with a long list of other racing-themed attractions and events.
And with early 2022’s “Speed Season” fast approaching, there are plenty of reasons for racing enthusiasts to get all revved up about the upcoming events calendar. Consider these highlights — just a few of the many reasons to plan a trip to Daytona Beach with your fellow-racing-fan friends and family members for some speed-fueled fun:
Classic MotoFest at Daytona International Speedway
January 7–9, 2022
This event put on by the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) serves as the official kickoff to the 2022 motorcycle-racing season. The exciting offerings on tap for racing fans who attend will include off-road MX racing, dirt track racing, and a full slate of classic and modern motorcycle road racing.
Rolex 24 at DAYTONA
This internationally known annual event celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2022 with — as usual — 24 straight hours of professional racing action. Around 60 cars in four different classes will compete in the full-day-long sports car endurance race, which will officially open the new IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. The weekend includes the Taste of the 24 where fans can enjoy food from the area’s finest restaurants without missing any of the non-stop racing action.
DAYTONA 5K Run/Walk
Coinciding with the Rolex 24 at DAYTONA weekend, this virtual event will see participants run or walk 5 kilometers via whatever route they choose (outdoors on the road, indoors on the treadmill, through the park, on a trail, etc.), then submit their time online. All participating runners and walkers will receive an official long-sleeve tech T-shirt, plus a 2-day grandstand admission ticket to the Rolex 24 at DAYTONA.
DAYTONA Speedweeks & DAYTONA 500
The 2022 edition of the Great American Race is set for Sunday, February 20 — and as always, the week leading up to the main event will be filled with plenty of high-octane racing action, too. This speed-lovers’ spectacle includes:- DAYTONA 500 qualifying on February 16
- the Bluegreen Vacations Duel at DAYTONA qualifying races on February 17
- the NextEra Energy 250 on February 18
- the Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. 300 & Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire on February 19
