Temperatures are on the rise, sleeves are getting shorter and spirits are soaring — spring is in full swing! That means it’s almost time for sea turtle nesting season in the Daytona Beach area. Every year from mid-May through October, about 100,000 threatened and endangered sea turtles emerge from the ocean for one night to lay their eggs. If you’re one of the thousands of people who want to see this amazing natural event, be sure you know how to do it right.

When planning your next vacation in Daytona Beach, you already know the wide-open sand, surf and sun are big draws here. You’ll no doubt add in some shopping time. And you can’t very well shop without sampling Daytona Beach’s vast and delectable assortment of foods and beverages.

Daytona Beach’s Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) offers something — lots of somethings, actually — for everyone in the family. The area’s largest museum hosts over 30,000 objects, from fine art and fossilized skeletons to Coca-Cola memorabilia and an interactive children’s museum. MOAS, located in the lush, 90-acre Tuscawilla Preserve, is a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate and is nationally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.

Don’t miss Daytona Beach’s oldest beachside home, where history comes alive. The beautifully restored Lilian Place was built in 1884 by Laurence Thompson, one of the city’s first settlers. The house is named for his daughter Lilian (1873–1934), who lived there until her death. This historic home is a great example of Italianate High Victorian architecture — one of only two in Volusia County, Florida — and features high ceilings, crown moldings and heart-of-pine floors.

The list of entertainment and activity options in Daytona Beach runs as deep and wide as our 23 miles of beaches. From jumping on jet skis and exploring the waterways to uncovering the history that shaped the area, there’s no limit to the possibilities for family fun in Daytona Beach. One of the best ways to cap off a fun day of splashing around at the beach or exploring the city’s shopping scene is to groove to live music at the Daytona Beach Bandshell

In the last five years, the Daytona Beach area has exploded into a hot spot for craft beer breweries. And since it opened its doors in the summer of 2014, Daytona Beach Brewing Company has been a mainstay on the scene. This family-owned and operated business evolved from a home-brewing side project, and it now serves the Daytona Beach community from 4–9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and from 2–11 p.m. on Fridays an Saturdays each week.
