News-Journal Center- 221 N. Beach Street, Daytona Beach. The
Emerson String Quartet's performance in Daytona Beach is one of
more than 80 the group will perform worldwide during the year. The
group is often praised for its insightful performances, energetic
artistry, and technical mastery. Founded in 1976, the Emerson
String Quartet has an extensive list of accomplishments. They have
won eight GRAMMY Awards, including Best Chamber Music Recording,
three Gramophone Magazine Awards, and have partnered with legendary
artists such as Emanuel Ax, Paul McCartney, Richard Stoltzman and
Isaac Stern. The Quartet has a residency at the Smithsonian
Institution in Washington, DC. They have also performed several
benefit concerts for global causes, including nuclear disarmament,
AIDS and world hunger. In May 2007, the Quartet released a two CD
set with the string quartets of Johannes Brahms to celebrate their
