Peabody Auditorium - 600 Auditorium Blvd., Daytona Beach. Millions
of people have lived and loved the music we affectionately refer to
as doo-wop from the early 1950's. Those who were lucky enough
to be teenagers when the music first flourished know first hand of
that unique era. For one night only, Friday January 4th, the
Peabody Auditorium (600 Auditorium Blvd. - Daytona Beach) will
relive solid gold memories with the Harvey Robbins Royalty of
Doo-Wopp show featuring Jay Siegel and The Tokens (The Lion Sleeps
Tonight) and special guest star Jay Traynor (She Cried.) The
Flamingos will also appear (I Only Have Eyes For You, Lovers Never
Say Goodbye,) and The Del Vikings (Come Go With Me, Whispering
Bells.) Brian Best of Buddy Holly Remembered (Peggy Sue,
That'll Be The Day) will round out the night with the Harvey
Robbins Royalty of Doo-Wopp All-Stars (Higher and Higher.) Promoter
Harvey Robbins keeps this music alive by bringing veteran doo-wop
groups together to tour the country. He also heads the Doo-Wopp
Hall of Fame of America induction ceremonies in Boston each spring,
honoring the great vocal artists and groups who popularized the
style.
Tickets are $20.00-$40.00, and the performance is scheduled for
Friday, January 4 at 7:30PM.
