Book Mutations: From Literature to Art
Event Happens: Feb 06, 2010

10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Museum of Florida Art, 600 N Woodland Blvd, DeLand. Teens and Adults. Barb Van Dusen, Instructor. $55 members/$65 non members. Tear it! Paint it! Fold it! Glue it! Sew it! Carve it! There's nothing you can do that is wrong in this no holds barred workshop. We'll explore the contemporary art form of altered books. Starting with a plain old ordinary book, we will perform a creative metamorphosis resulting in a new piece of art. Beginners can jump right in with this exciting offshoot of collage and mixed media. If you don't like what you did, you can just tear out that page, or paint over it, so there is no need for Fear! Already started creating altered books? Then you know how many techniques you still haven't tried. Join us and work on your artistic vocabularies and personal symbology to deepen the meaning of your art. Register for classes by visiting the museum or by calling. (386) 734-4371. www.museumoffloridaart.org/education.php.
