TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
Overview: The Daytona Beach area is very accessible whether you are traveling in your own personal vehicle or prefer to use available transportation. This section includes information on vehicle rentals and public transportation.
Taxi and Bus System
Note: Only VOTRAN and Daytona Shuttle Service offer temporary transportation out of Daytona Beach.
Regular Service: Regular bus service throughout Volusia County is available from VOTRAN.

Cost: 60 cents for passengers with disabilities, $1.25 for companion
Accessibility: Equipped with handicap ramp and seating. (Able to accommodate electric wheelchairs and scooters.)
VOTRAN Gold Para-transit Service: VOTRAN's Gold Service is available to persons who, because of physical or mental disability or age, are unable to transport themselves and cannot use fixed-route bus service. Assisting devices such as wheelchair lifts and lowered steps for easy boarding access meet requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act. The VOTRAN public transportation system offers door-to-door para-transit service for disabled persons who are unable to use the regular bus service. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. For more information, call (386) 322-5100. VOTRAN provides complimentary para-transit service to ADA eligible individuals who travel to Volusia County. If these individuals have been certified as "ADA Para-transit eligible" by a public entity, that certification will be honored for up to 21 days. If they have not been certified as eligible by another public entity but claim they are ADA Para-transit eligible, they are entitled to "presumptive eligibility" for up to 21 days. If service is needed beyond this period, individuals will be required to apply for eligibility in the area they are visiting.

VOTRANGold reservations may be made from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Cost of services:
A $2.50 one-way fare is charged for Gold Service. Exact change is required. VOTRAN drivers do not carry cash. One certified personal care attendant assisting the passenger will not be charged fare. A companion will be charged a $2.50 one-way fare.
Scheduling transportation:
Qualified persons or their personal care attendants must request transportation at least one day in advance of travel. Reservations can be made no more than 14 days in advance. When calling the Gold Service reservations office, please remember to make reservations for personal care attendants or companions desiring transportation and advise of any special assistance services needed.
A1A Beachside Trolley
VOTRAN's turn-of-the-century style trolleys operate from mid January to Labor Day (September) on Atlantic Avenue in the Greater Daytona Beach Area.

Hours of Operation: noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday
Cost: .60 cents for persons with disabilities, $1.25 for each companion. Seniors 65 or older and persons under 18 can ride one way for 60 cents. Passengers under six are free.
Accessibility: The trolleys are handicapped accessible, air conditioned and equipped with the talking bus features to call out your stops.

All of these companies listed have hand controls for their vehicles. There is no charge for this, but all require some advanced notice. None have conversion vans for electric wheelchairs. Note: 24-hour notice is required for hand controls.
