Frappes Italian Grille

There is a unique restaurant in Ormond Beach named Frappes Italian Grille (or just Frappes), and it truly is in a class by itself. If we are in town, this is where my wife and I go every year on our wedding anniversary. Like a couple of others on this website, Frappes is located in the heart of Ormond Beach, directly on one of the gateways to the beach, Granada Boulevard (SR 40). I find it helpful to call ahead before my arrival, so the staff can have some advance notice on having an accessible table available.

Frappes is owned and operated by Meryl Frappier and her self-taught chef husband, Bobby. For me, their food is the best I've eaten, and the service is excellent. I have never been disappointed. They have an eclectic and delicious menu that covers all the bases with a variety of wonderful dishes including pastas, different seafoods, pork, chicken, steak, veal, and duck.

About a year ago, we introduced three neighbors to Frappes, and they have since become regulars and go there more than we do! We recently went again with those same neighbors. Before dinner, we each ordered a glass of wine which was promptly brought out to the table along with Frappes' famous complimentary bread served with garlic & herb olive oil. This bread and olive oil is the most delicious that I have had, and it usually takes all my willpower not to overeat this complimentary tasty treat!

I ordered an old favorite on their menu, Organically Groovy Chicken. It is chicken stuffed with goat cheese and spinach, parmesan risotto, and herb pan sauce; it is the perfect dish. My wife ordered the seared scallops, and it comes with sweetcorn, blistered tomatoes, herbs Risotto, and pomegranate gastrique! I was lucky to have gotten a bite of that! One of our neighbors got the Grilled Atlantic Salmon with vegetable sauté and Almond Romesco Sauce. Her husband ordered the Crispy Duck which has a Mango reduction and vegetable Risotto. Our third neighbor decided on the Veal Scaloppini, and it came with capers, lemon, asparagus, and shallot mashed potatoes. Wow! Have you ever heard of such a selection? I was able to nab little bites here and there of the various dishes around the table, and every one of them was completely succulent and delicious.

Parking
I usually have pretty good luck parking when I go to Frappes. Some handicapped spots are right at the building, and others are only 15-20 yards away.

Entrance
The entrance consists of two doors, and one of them is usually locked shut with one of those tiny levers. Since my chair (27" WIDE) just barely fits through one side, I typically have the host unlock the other door. With both doors open, I can easily breeze through the entrance with no problem. In the phone call prior to arrival, it helps to request that both doors be unlocked.
